Sergio, un joven de treinta años, trabaja en un gran supermercado. Su mujer,Angela, de origen español, está a punto de dar a luz a su primer hijo. Aunquelos médicos le diagnosticaron una grave malformación (anencefalia), los padres,sobre todo la madre, profundamente creyente, habían decidido no interrumpir elembarazo. El bebé nace y es bautizado, pero los médicos dictaminan que lequedan pocos días de vida. La reacción de sus padres es opuesta: Sergio sehunde en la desesperación; Angela espera un milagro.Mientras se enfrentan a esta situación, en el supermercado donde Sergio trabajala policía investiga el suicidio de una joven dependienta, pues se hadescubierto que poco antes de quitarse la vida había sido violada. Thebaby is born and christened but the doctors predict that it only has a few daysto live. The parents react in completely different ways; Sergio sinks into adepression while Angela hopes for a miracle.While they are facing this situation, the police are investigating the suicideof a young sales girl at the supermarket where Sergio works because they havefound out that just before she took her life she had been raped. Sergio, whoaccompanied her to her house the night before the suicide, is among thesuspects….
