“Próxima Estación” logra acercarnos a historias de hombres y mujeres que hansalido de su Ecuador natal cargados de razones y llenos de sueños. Sereshumanos que se encuentran, en destino, con una realidad muchas veces diferentea la que imaginaron y soportando el peso que supone dejar atrás a sus familias,a sus seres queridos. Inflación, dolarización del mercado, cinco presidentes enocho años, descrédito de las instituciones, altas tasas de paro, dificultadpara acceder a servicios básicos empujan a emigrar primero a las mujeres. Eneste proceso, subrayo el papel pionero que cumplen muchas de ellas,convirtiéndose en avanzadilla de sus maridos, sus hijos.

“Next station” manages to bring us closer to the men and women who have lefttheir native Ecuador for many good reasons, full of dreams. Human beings who,on arriving at their destination, find themselves in a situation often verydifferent from the one they had imagined and also bearing the burden of havingleft behind their families, their loved ones. Inflation, a market based on thedollar, five presidents in eight years, discredited institutions, highunemployment rates, difficulties gaining access to basic services have pushedmany people, and in the first place women, to emigrate. I stress the pioneeringrole of many of these women in this process, as they become the advance patrolfor their husbands and children.
