- EXTENDED SYNOPSIS
Javier, un médico español, en una noche mágica conoce a Angie, bailarina y dueña de una escuela de salsa, que aspira ser parte de Delirio: el espectáculo de salsa más famoso del mundo. Al volver a Madrid, Javier no se siente bien con la vida quelleva,ni en su trabajo, ni con su pareja, animado por su mejor amiga resuelve volver a la sucursal del cielo, Cali, para instalarse allí una temporada. Tan rápido como los movimientos característicos de la salsa, Javier y Angie se volverán a encontrar yvivirán entre dos culturas un romance casi imposible, lleno de tropiezos, dentro del mundo de los bailarines de salsa, en la ciudad donde bailar es la meta, es el sueño y es la vida.
JAVIER, an introverted Spanish doctor, flies to Cali to attend a medical convention. On his first night in town, he meets ANGIE (28), a beautiful charming dancer who owns a modest salsa school. Javier unexpectedly gets drunk, waking up alone in amotelwithout knowing how to reach her. Angie also had a good time that night, but she doesn´t need any more complications in her life. She just separated from her dance partner and father of her son. In addition, she is focused on preparing the bestpossiblechoreography with her students in order to audition for DELIRIO. DELIRIO is the most prestigious salsa dance company in the world. Each year they prepare a show and all the dance schools in Cali audition. Being admitted is every salsa dancer´sdream.Javier has an old colleague, PALOMA, who lives in Cali. She practices primary care medicine, unlike the medicine of reports and conferences that he is used to. When he goes to visit her he is forced to deal with a real medical emergency. The actofsaving a young man´s life shakes up something inside of him and begins to make him question his career and the life he has been living for the past years. Back in Spain, Javier can´t manage to get back into his life. He doesn´t feel comfortableanymorewith his work, his girlfriend and his life in general. Encouraged by Paloma, he decides to take some time off and return to Cali. Then little by little he starts to have more contact with patients and recovers his enthusiasm for the practice ofmedicine. Helped by a bunch of funny and genuine locals, he will also catch on with the festive spirit of the city and salsa music, enjoying again the simple pleasures in life. In the meantime, Angie is facing an important personal andprofessionalchallenge. She has agreed to dance once again with her ex-husband for the DELIRIO audition, but this decision ends up complicating greatly her life. On top of everything, Angie must replace the lack of resources and experience of her school withgreateffort and imagination. Fate, however, will bring Angie and Javier together in a series of encounters and misunderstandings, while we witness the preparation of the choreography that will open the door to the dream of being part of DELIRIO.
