Una soleada mañana de verano Francisco Lafuente amanece en una playa desierta junto a una vieja maleta cargada de recuerdos. “Paco Foto”, como le conocían en la zona -porque su oficio era hacerle fotos a las turistas extranjeras que venían a tostarse bajo el sol de España- inicia un viaje episódico y surrealista por los momentos que marcaron su nueva vida desde aquél día que abandonó la miseria y la represión de su pueblo natal y llegó a la recién creada “Costa del Sol”: el político que le regaló su primera cámara, la noche que se encontró con Brigitte Bardot en el Gran Hotel, la pelea con Sinatra, aquel antro donde descubrió otras formas de ser, de amar. Y por supuesto, Julia, esa rubia alemana que conoció en una piscina azul turquesa y con las que hizo sus primeras fotos en technicolor.
Aquél paraíso sureño alabado por artistas y por la propaganda franquista, se ha convertido hoy día en un no-lugar en el que Paco Foto se encuentra perdido, desorientado, buscando los lugares míticos que conoció sepultados entre un mar de edificios de cemento, persiguiendo a Ava Gardner entre los veraneantes con mascarillas, intentado encontrar un sentido a todo ese sinsentido que supone estar viviendo su último verano.

On a sunny summer morning Francisco Lafuente wakes up on a deserted beach next to an old suitcase full of memories." Paco Foto", as he is known in the area -because his job was to take photos of foreign tourists who came to toast their skins under Spain’s sun- begins an episodic and surreal journey through the moments that marked his life after he abandoned his hometown’s misery and repression and arrived at the newly created "Costa del Sol": he relives the day a politician gave him his first camera, the night he met Brigitte Bardot at the Grand Hotel, the fist fight with Sinatra, the club where he discovered other ways of loving. And of course, he remembers Julia, the beautiful German blonde he met next to a turquoise blue pool and the subject of his first color photographs.
That southern paradise, praised by artists and Francoist propaganda, has evolved into a Non-place where Paco Foto feels lost, disoriented, as he wanders the streets he used to roam looking for the mythical places he knew, places now buried among a sea of concrete. He even chases Ava Gardner among holidaymakers covered with face masks, trying to find a meaning to all the nonsense surrounding him during his last summer.
