En 2015, Ossamah Al Mohsen y su hijo de 8 años fueron víctimas de una zancadilla en la frontera de Hungría por parte de una reportera de televisión en su desesperada huida de una Siria en guerra. Las cámaras captaron este momento y la imagen se viralizó, convirtiéndose en uno de los iconos más vergonzosos del conflicto que escandalizó a la opinión pública.
Paradójicamente, esta agresión permitió a Ossamah, famoso entrenador de fútbol en su país, llegar a Madrid como refugiado junto a su hijo pequeño, y retomar su profesión. Pero el resto de su familia no tuvo la misma suerte: Ossamah vive alejado de su mujer y sus otros tres hijos, sin visado en Turquía y sin posibilidad de volar a Europa.
La historia de Ossamah y de su familia nos permite reflexionar sobre la supervivencia de miles de familias sirias atrapadas en Turquía. ¿Qué se hizo de sus sueños y ambiciones? “Hayati (mi vida)” es la historia de Ossamah y su hijo Zeid, pero también la de Moatassam, Youssef y Muhannad, tres prometedores futbolistas sirios a los que la guerra les arrebató los mejores años de sus vidas.

In 2015, Ossamah Al Mohsen and her son were the victims of a trip on the Hungarian border by a television reporter in her desperate flight from a Syria at war. The cameras captured this moment by scandalizing public opinion. This kick allowed Ossamah, famous soccer coach in his country, to arrive in Madrid and resume his profession. But the rest of his family did not have the same luck. The story of Ossamah allows us to reflect on the survival of thousands of Syrian families trapped in Turkey but also that of Moatassam, Youssef and Muhannad, three promising Syrian footballers who were robbed of the best years of their lives by war.
