Documental en el que el actor José Sacristán recuerda su vida y su obra. Sentado sobre el escenario del Teatro Lope de Vega de Chinchón, la localidad madrileña en la que nació el 27 de septiembre de 1937, el artista echa la vista atrás para contaralosespectadores cómo se fue forjando la persona y el intérprete que es hoy en día. De la mano de Sacristán revivimos las comedías costumbristas del franquismo, calificadas despectivamente como “españoladas”; la llamada “tercera vía”, que impulsó acomienzos de los setenta el productor José Luis Dibildos; el cine de la Transición con títulos como"Un hombre llamado Flor de Otoño", "Asignatura pendiente" y "Solos en la madrugada", o los años 80, con éxitos como "La colmena" y "El viaje aningunaparte".
