Alvin acaba de salir de prisión, está en libertad provisional y ha empezado a trabajar en un taller metalúrgico en Staten Island. Vive en una casa de protección oficial con su abuela, de salud débil. Intenta pasar desapercibido, evitando reconectar con la gente que le hizo acabar en prisión. Alvin has just come out of prison, he is on parole and is starting to work at a tool and die workshop in Staten Island. He lives in a project with his grandmother, who has feeble health. He keeps a low profile, avoiding reconnecting with the crowd who ended up with him in prison. His mother, who he has not seen for many years, unexpectedly calls asking for help: she needs money to bail her out of prison.
