A feature length documentary on the so called “Sintel Case”, a conflict whichhas gone on for several years but which is known above all for the decision of1,800 workers to install themselves in the financial heart of Madrid, El Paseode la Castellana, and set up the “Camp of Hope”, which they kept going for 6months as a means of pressure and protest. This can be considered as the “swansong” of a long tradition of large-scale strikes and workers´ movements and ofa certain way of understanding the class struggle.Using material from archives and interviews with different people ranging fromministers to trade unionists, an attempt has been made to give an accuratepicture of the “Sintel Case” and the repercussions at a social, trade union andpolitical level. The one and only objective of “Off the ground” is to provide a document on filmof this unique experience which is as truthful and moving as possible and toportray a group of people, the workers and their families, in an extremesituation.
