Hace ya más de cincuenta años que vieron la luz las aventuras de Juan Salvo, “El Eternauta”. A día de hoy, este cómic, que narra una invasión extraterrestre que sirve de metáfora sobre los mecanismos del poder, y con la que su creador, Oesterheld,“vaticina” la cruenta represión ejercida por la dictadura militar argentina, sigue sorprendiendo a miles de lectores en todo el mundo.Lamentablemente, Héctor Oesterheld fue víctima de la represión militar y hoy en día sigue siendo uno de los muchos desaparecidos que llenan de dolor la memoria de todo un país.Pero Elsa Sánchez, su compañera y cómplice a lo largo de muchos años, aún sigue entre nosotros. Ella es “La mujer del Eternauta”. Una mujer que sobrevivió a la desaparición y posterior asesinato de su marido Héctor y de las cuatro hijas delmatrimonioamanos de la dictadura. Una mujer que logró superar una situación angustiosa y que consiguió salir adelante durante unos años muy difíciles, en los que la represión y la muerte fueron protagonistas de uno de los períodos más negros de la historiaargentina.

And to this day, this comic book continues to surprise thousands of readers all over the world after introducing, some time in 1957, a new way ofunderstanding comic strips: it transcended the limits of mere escapism to become an adult and politically committed story.The Argentine artist, Héctor Oesterheld –the scriptwriter-, created a highly metaphorical and political comic strip that, contrary to the norm at the time, took place in Buenos Aires, far away from the usual settings depicted in most other comicstrips(US, France). Unfortunately, Héctor Oesterheld was one of the victims of the military repression and, to this day, he is one of the many missing persons that fill a whole country’s memory with sorrow.But Elsa Sánchez, his partner and closest ally during many years is still with us. She is the wife of “El Eternauta”. A woman who survived Hector´s disappearance and the murder of their four daughters: Beatriz, Estela, Diana y Marina. A woman whomanaged to overcome a dire situation and to forge ahead during those difficult years, when repression and death were ever-present, protagonists of one of the darkest periods in Argentina´s history.
