Como dice el proverbio eslavo - “Lo que no cuentas a tu mujer ni a tu mejor amigo, cuéntaselo a un desconocido en un bar”. Esta es la historia que Macario narrada con sus propias palabras a un extraño, una mujer que viajaba con él por la rutadelAlgarbe, abriéndole su corazón, revelando la tristeza que soportaba por la muchacha rubia.Tal como relata esta historia, sabemos que a Macario le pidieron que fuera contable para trabajar en la oficina de su tío Francisco. Ya en su mesa de trabajo empiezan sus preocupaciones. Su intención es la de contar su curiosa historia.Estamos hoy en día en Lisboa, en la oficina de Macario, desde cuya baranda se ve la ventana de la casa de enfrente, donde ésta singular chica vive con su madre. Es la primera en asomarse a la ventana mientras el joven Macario relata su historia.Lo más interesante es que cuando la madre sale, la singular, bella y calmada chica, aparece en la misma ventana abanicándose ostentosamente con un abanico chino, lo que llega al corazón de Macario.

As the Slavic proverb from Galicie says - “What you don’t tell your wife, or your best friend, tell a stranger in an inn”. And so, this is the story of Macário told in his own words to a stranger, a lady who was travelling with him en route to theAlgarve, opening his heart and revealing the sorrow he endured for this fair-haired girl. As the story unfolds, we learn that this Macário was asked to be bookkeeper in his Uncle Francisco’s office; he takes his place at the writing-table in theofficeand begins his work and his worries. His intention is to tell this curious story. We are in present-day Lisbon, in Macário’s office from whose veranda can be seen the window of the house opposite where this unique, singular girl lives with hermotherwho is the first to appear at the window as the young Macário tells his story. The interesting thing is after the mother goes away, the singular girl, pretty and calm, appears at the same window ostentatiously fanning herself with a Chinese fan,whichboth surprises Macário and touches his heart.

Un proverbe slave de Galicie dit : “Ce que tu ne racontes pas à ta femme ou à ton ami, raconte-le à un étranger, dans une auberge.” C’est ainsi que Macário raconte à une inconnue qui voyage à ses côtés dans le train pour l’Algarve, l’histoire desonchagrin provoqué par une jeune fille blonde. Au début de son récit, Macário travaille comme comptable dans l’entreprise de son oncle Francisco, et c’est dans ce bureau que tout a commencé.Nous sommes à Lisbonne, de nos jours, dans le bureau de Macário. Du balcon, il peut voir la fenêtre de la maison voisine où la jeune fille vit avec sa mère, laquelle apparaît, un jour, pour la première fois à sa fenêtre. Plus saisissante encoreestl’apparition de la jeune fille, à la suite de sa mère, à cette même fenêtre : jolie et détendue, elle s’évente avec un magnifique éventail chinois, ce qui fascine Macário et le touche au cœur.
