- EXTENDED SYNOPSIS
Lurdes, con apenas 25 años, emprende un viaje hacia los territorios de Obaba.En su equipaje lleva una pequeña cámara de vídeo. Con ella quiere atrapar larealidad de Obaba, de su mundo, de sus gentes. Quiere captar el presente,mostrarlo tal como es. Pero Obaba no es el lugar que Lurdes ha imaginado, ypronto descubre que quienes viven allí, como Merche, Ismael, o Tomás, estánanclados en un pasado del que no pueden –o no quieren– escapar.A través de ellos y de Miguel –un joven desenvuelto y alegre, con quien entablaamistad–, Lurdes va conociendo retazos de sus vidas: de antes, de cuando fueronniños o adultos, y de ahora, de cuando apenas les quedan ilusiones.Retazos de unas vidas que provocan pasiones, envidias y violencia. Como lajoven maestra que pasea su soledad por las calles de Obaba; o como eladolescente Esteban, que recibe cartas de amor en sobres de color crema.Con todo ello, Lurdes intenta reconstruir el puzzle que de sentido a sus vidasy que le permita atrapar la realidad con su cámara de vídeo. Pero siempre hayalgo que falta, que se escapa, que no se alcanza a comprender. Como elmisterioso comportamiento de los lagartos que habitan en Obaba. Un misterio quenadie, ni siquiera la cámara de Lurdes, es capaz de desvelar.
Lurdes, scarcely 25 years old, begins on a trip towards Obaba’s territories.She is carrying a small video camera in her luggage. She wants to catch Obabareality, its world and its people. She wants to catch the present, and show itthe way it is. But Obaba is not the place that Lurdes had imagined, and shediscovers that the people who live there, like Merche, Ismael o Tomás, aretrapped in a past that they can not –or they do not want to- escape from.Through them and Miguel –a happy and easy-going young boy she strikes up aclose friendship with-, Lurdes starts to know small pieces of their lives: frombefore, when they were children or adults, and from now, when they barely haveany dreams.These are small pieces of lives that lead to passions, envies and violence.Like the young teacher, who walks her loneliness through Obaba streets; or theadolescent Esteban, who receives love letters in cream-colored envelopes.With all this, Lurdes tries to reconstruct the puzzle that gives sense to theirlives and that will allow her to catch the reality with her video camera. Butthere is always something missing, something that escapes, and something shecan not understand. Like the mysterious behaviour of the lizards that live inObaba. Nobody, not even Lurdes’ camera, is able to solve this mystery.
