En el Logroño de 1959, Fabianito, adolescente y aprendiz de poeta, asiste perplejo a la grotesca organización del velatorio de su bisabuelo, don Fabián, ex-funcionario y taurino de pro, que ha gastado los ahorros de una vida en comprarse unatelevisión.Fabianito descubrirá el amor en estas circunstancias, mientras la familia aguarda impaciente la llegada del alcalde con la intención de que nombre a don Fabián "hijo ilustre". Los acontecimientos y las visitas desbordarán a la familia del finado,yacomplicada de por sí, generando situaciones cómicas y macabras.

In Logroño in 1959, Fabianito, an adolescent and apprentice poet, watches in bewilderment the grotesque organization of the wake for his great-grandfather, Don Fabián, ex-civil servant and bullfighting enthusiast, who has spent a lifetime’ssavingsonbuying a television. Fabianito will discover love in these circumstances, while the family waits impatiently for the arrival of the mayor so he can name Don Fabían “Distinguished Citizen”.
